Web Development Workers

Web development is a very young field of endeavor with developers having only about 2 years experience on average. 4 out of 10 just started in this field in the past year, about half working 2 to 3 years, and the few
pioneers having worked for 4 years or more.

Nevertheless, most are not new entrants to the job market, with the average age of 27.

Most web developers have found this career after a traditional college education, with 9 out of 10 having attained their undergraduate degrees and some having even augmented this through certificate and graduate
courses.

Income is definitely above the minimum wage, indicating that the skill set needed to do this work is appreciated. Given the short tenure in the job, a median salary of P18K is quite high.

On Job Satisfaction --
Most find their work mentally challenging, particularly in the areas of design and development, the new and emerging technology they have to deal with, and the specific project requirements.

8 out of 10 feel they excel in their web development work itself, while the rest are more inclined towards a management or marketing role.

Only half find their job equitably rewarding, especially in monetary terms. These may correspond to the half who receive P18K or below.

On Working Conditions --
While almost all say they already enjoy supportive working conditions, only 2 out of 10 are perfectly satisfied. The rest say that there is still
a lot of room for improvement, particularly in the physical and psychological aspects.

Apart from a conducive work environment and leading-edge technical infrastructure, web developers also prefer a more casual style of work which
is currently emerging as a "new economy" style -- casual clothing worn at work, flexible work arrangements, home-like environment, music playing,
etc.

Almost all feel they are working among supportive colleagues.
