STANDING COMMITTEES

MEMBERSHIP
In-charge of setting policies and guidelines relevant to recruiting, orienting, inducting and keeping our members satisfied, happy, loyal and active.

CHAPTERING

This committee aims to organize and encourage the participation of other computer societies outside of Metro Manila.

Ø Organizing the ICT professionals
Ø Geographically organized along regional boundaries defined by government to facilitate PCS’ coordination and collaboration with corresponding regional bodies
Ø Network for the systematic sharing of benefits of PCS active membership
Ø Network for efficient and constant communication from, among, and with various levels and sectors of society

MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETING

In-charge of preparing the regular PCS monthly activities, the Monthly Membership Meeting.

Ø Nurturing the ICT professional
Ø Non-technical preparation for professional advancement in the ICT industry
Ø An informal development program for ICT professionals
Ø With speakers from within and outside of the ICT industry
Ø Conducted monthly

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

In-charge of preparing the monthly Professional Development Program (PDP) sessions:

Ø Technical preparation for professional advancement in the ICT industry
Ø Technical Skills (IQ) and Soft Skills (EQ) sessions
Ø An informal development program for ICT professionals
Ø With speakers from the ICT and related industries
Ø Conducted monthly right after the Monthly Membership Meeting

PUBLIC RELATIONS AND WEBSITE

Keeping the PCS membership informed of all the activities of the society and improving its image is the primary role of the PR and Communications Committee. The committee is in the process of having an interactive/portal-style website constructed while still maintaining the society's website (www.pcs-it.org), which serves as the electronic newsletter that can be reached by both PCS members and non-members alike from all over the globe. In addition, the Committee, with the help of the PCS Secretariat, provides members with regular announcements/notices and updates via e-mail, text, fax messages, and telephone calls. It is also tasked with promoting all PCS events and activities.

OTHER COMMITTEES

CERTIFICATION

In-charge of organizing/institutionalizing a PCS Certification Program in coordination with recognized International Certification Bodies. It will cover the following programs:

Ø High quality and ongoing professional development
Ø Current and relevant ICT and business knowledge
Ø Defined benchmarks against which to test professional skills
Ø Professional recognition of up to date skills and knowledge
Ø Opportunities to add inmmediate value to your organization

ICT PROFESSIONALS' CONGRESS

In-charge of preparing the theme and program of activities for the IT Professionals' Congress

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS

Objectives:

Ø Advocacy and legislative improvements
Ø Automated elections
Ø Procurement watch Key result areas:
Ø Position papers for laws in progress
Ø Observers of government ICT procurement process
Ø Develop guidelines/checklist
Ø Develop group of observers
Ø Observe all projects worth P50M up

JUNIOR PHILIPPINE COMPUTER SOCIETY (JPCS)

Junior PCS is the student organization of the Philippine Computer Society. Its activities covers the following:

Ø Organizing future ICT professionals
Ø Geographically organized by campus
Ø Facilitates honing of skills for local, national, and international competitions
Ø Maintains student interest in the ICT profession
Ø Prepares students for transition into professional life objective
