My sincere congratulations to the officers and members of the Philippine Computer Society (PCS), the Philippine State Universities and Colleges Computer Education and Systems Society (PSUCCESS), the Information Systems Security Society of the Philippines (ISSSP) and the Computer Manufacturers, Distributors and Dealers Association of the Philippines (COMDDAP) as you hold your Conference in cooperation with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and the Systems Technology Institute (STI).

Your title, “SynchronicITy in Manila”, exemplifies the kind of collaboration we need in addressing the dynamic and pressing concerns of ICT, especially as an industrializing economy. Indeed, our continuing viability in the global community lies in our capacity to keep abreast with the latest trends in ICT. This gathering is truly a concrete step in responding to that immediate need.

I wish the success of this conference and I hope that it will usher in greater cooperation between the government and all private ICT practitioners. Together, let us narrow the digital divide and strengthen the foundation of a stronger Republic.
